Timber & Trails is a custom residential design project for Lydia Bachman, a 65-year-old retired anthropology professor with a deep love for travel, entertaining, and outdoor adventure. The design aimed to reflect her vibrant lifestyle by fusing Craftsman charm with modern comfort, while maintaining accessibility, flow, and functional elegance.
The design concept centered around rustic luxury — a cozy, grounded palette using natural wood, stone, and earthy tones to create a retreat that connects seamlessly to its natural surroundings. Special attention was given to clearances, aging-in-place features, and pet-friendly zones for Lydia’s two Labradors.
